Easingwold & District Art Society (EDAS) enjoyed another great turnout to its Autumn Art Exhibition held at the Galtres Centre on the weekend of 20th & 21st October and wish to express their gratitude to everyone who came along & supported the event.

Eleven members of Brandsby WI, plus 6 " significant others" boarded the train on Sunday, October 14th to take London by storm.
Our first stop was 38 storeys up to see the remarkable Sky Garden. Unfortunately, it was wet and cloudy so we couldn't enjoy the incredible, 360 degree views it afforded but it was still well worth a visit. Several of us then visited The Jewel Tower, part of the Palace of Westminster, and built in the 14th century to house the king's jewels. A jolly evening followed...

Easingwold Parish Church hosted a special ‘Autumn Concert’ last Saturday, as part of the church’s 600th anniversary celebrations. We had TWO choirs to enjoy: the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir, with Musical Director Graham Kay and accompanist Eileen Grey, and also ‘Jubilate’, with Musical Director Amanda Crawley and accompanist Helen Smith. As storm ‘Callum’ gusted outside Easingwold Parish Church last Friday evening, we were treated to a much more tuneful use of ‘wind’: that of the breath of the musicians of Easingwold Town Band, who had come to help us celebrate the 600th anniversary of the church!
They were welcomed by our vicar, Rev. Margaret Young, who introduced the band’s Musical Director, Alistair Shipman. He started them off with the rousing march “Slaidburn”, which really had the rafters ringing! There followed the hymn tune: “Blaenwern”, after which we heard Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “I Don’t Know How to Love Him”, with the flugelhorn solo played by Duncan Law...

Children, parents/carers and staff at Crayke C.E. Primary School celebrated their Harvest Festival at St Cuthbert’s Church, Crayke on Tuesday 9th October and rather than the traditional food collection, the School Council launched a harvest appeal to raise funds for the ‘Toilet Twinning’ project.
Toilet Twinning is a water and sanitation initiative run by the Tearfund charity. It invites people to ‘twin’ their own toilet with latrines in poor communities to raise funds for people in the poorest nations...
