Newburgh Priory finally opens its gates this year on Bank Holiday Monday with a Flower Power Plant Fair. If you fancy a stroll through 40 acres of gardens, woodland, water gardens, a secret walled garden and also purchase quality plants from highly respected plant nurseries, this could be for you. The wonderful setting of the Priory, overlooked by the White Horse at Kilburn, is one of the most popular of the Flower Power Fairs held in Yorkshire and this August there will be 20 stands offering hundreds of choice plants, herbs, cut flowers, herbaceous perennials, climbers, shrubs and trees together with a collection of quality garden accessories so you have all the ingredients for a great day out...

Easingwold Running Club...

Last week a few members of the running club were out of running gear for once and presenting a cheque for £860 to the Easingwold District Community Care Association (EDCCA). The charity is a registered one in the town which “seeks to improve the quality of life in the local community and help those in need”. A very worthwhile sentiment indeed, especially at the moment when so many people will have been affected by the current situation. “Those in need” of help in our community are always there of course as life always gives us its ups and downs. However, since the lockdown and even now as it has eased somewhat, “quality of life”, which of course means something different to all of us, has undoubtedly affected our community as with everywhere else.....

The weather was kind as the Easingwold Community Library played host to the Balbir Singh Dance Company last Saturday afternoon. The Company are renowned for blending contemporary western dance with classical Indian kathak dance. Their aim is to tell stories and excite the senses. The two performances were fully booked and the two dancers Abi and Kim wove intricate patterns under the magnificent willow tree outside the library....
