Pupils and staff at Easingwold Primary School were pleased to get back to a sense of normality last month, when the annual Easter egg and bonnet competition was able to take place. County Cricketing Success for Terrington Hall School...

Following a few weeks of intense observation days, Terrington Hall School is proud to announce that Olivia Kibler, one of the schools junior cricketers, has been selected to represent Yorkshire U13s Girls' Performance Squad, as a wicket keeper and batter.
Rob Johnson, Women and Girls Club and League Development Manager from Yorkshire Cricket Board said “We are very excited for Olivia to join us and believe that she has massive potential.”
Cricket has always been an extremely popular sport at the co-education prep school for children aged 3-13 years, located on the outskirts of York, with the school boasting a long list of talented pupils that have competed at regional level. Girls’ cricket is very active at the school and the inaugural girls’ cricket fixtures start this summer. Zebra Crossing Easingwold...
23rd April, 2021.
Easingwold Town Council is very concerned for the safety of our residents and one particular issue we have been aware of is the poor visibility of the zebra crossing outside our Primary School.
From the many complaints of near misses on the crossing received from the parents who use it every day it was obvious to the council that something needed to be done.
We are very pleased indeed to see that the contractors have at long last fitted the enhanced bright LED lights at the zebra crossing by the Primary School to increase its visibility to oncoming drivers.
The new lights were partially funded by an award from the AJ1 police fund - for which your Town Council had successfully applied for - other local awards were discussed in the Advertiser a few weeks ago.
To make up the total cost, significant contributions were also made from your Town Council and some money from NYCC via our County Councillor Peter Sowray....

Easingwold Community Library...
23rd April, 2021.
The library re opened on 12th April welcoming back dozens of excited customers. It was wonderful to see people back in the library scouring the shelves for titles. New books for adults and children were flying off the shelves. People were delighted to handle the shiny new covers and select an armful to take home.
People used the amnesty on fines that lasts until the end of April to return their books. Each adult is allowed 10 books and hundreds of new copies now line the shelves.
Our valued volunteers are manning the desks and dealing with requests. They have bravely reacquainted themselves with the computer and systems and are ably supported by Jo Braidwood, our NYCC member of staff....

Tree planting in Easingwold...
16th April, 2021.
A joint initiative between Easingwold Town Council, Easingwold Youth Council, Easingwold Green Spaces and Cozie Youth Club took place last Tuesday morning.
The weather was kind to us as we gathered In Chase Garth Park, ready for Kathleen Butcher to give us some safety tips and tell us where the trees were to be planted. The very useful trolley on wheels ably contained the trees, containers with water, plant food and tools, stakes to support and netting to protect the trees with ties to secure them.
Two young people helped plant each of the 6 trees. Dwayne and Will planted the first one followed by Emily and Charley from Cozie Youth Club then James and Ben. Us adults helped if required and put the plant food in before the soil was replaced, the stake hammered into the ground and netting securely placed around the tress to protect them and make them visible to the mower....

9th April, 2021.

Will Richardsons Charity Walk...
1st April, 2021.
In early December, Will Richardson of Easingwold, collapsed with a coronary episode. He was rushed to York Hospital for tests.
He was then transferred to Castle Hill for major open heart surgery. They replaced his aortic valve, reinforced his aorta and did a myomectomy.
(That’s removing part of the heart wall to increase the capacity of the heart.) The Surgeon suggested that he do gentle exercise as part of his recovery.
Perhaps walking? So at the beginning of March he decided to do a sponsored walk. He would walk the equivalent of the Coast to Coast Walk, a distance of 192 miles....
