The residents of Alne and the surrounding Villages now have a new MUGA facility within their existing Recreation Ground.
This replaces a much loved but hopelessly dilapidated structure and the vision is to revitalize and regenerate sport within the Ground. The new MUGA was completed in only 6 weeks.
It has new fencing, a new playing surface and is marked out specifically for 5-a-side football and for basketball.
The area is floodlit and is now probably among the best outdoor facilities for basketball within the York Area.
The Recreation Ground is managed by the Alne Parish Leisure Association (APLA), a charity that supports and manages recreation and leisure facilities within the locality.
The project, has only been possible because of a generous grant from the FCC Communities Foundation, a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
The new MUGA is budgeted to cost £52,000 of which FCC has granted £32,358.
