A special memorial golf day organized by local residents Andy Charlton and Gary Raper has raised £2,899 for the York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, with funds going to support the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at York Hospital.
Held annually in memory of Andy’s late brother, Steve Charlton, the NC72 Memorial Golf Day has contributed an impressive total of £9,656 over the past five years.
This year’s event, hosted last month at Aldwark Manor Golf Course, saw a strong turnout of 88 golfers, all gathering to show their support for the cause.
The Memorial Golf Day has become an anticipated community event, growing in significance each year as local residents and businesses unite to remember Steve and give back to the ICU.
Andy Charlton expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support: "The NC72 Memorial Golf Day has grown beyond what I could have imagined. It’s heart-warming to see how the community comes together year after year to support the ICU at York Hospital."
Gary Raper, who worked with Steve for many years, fondly recalled the times they spent playing golf together, particularly on the "builders’ Friday" at Aldwark.
