More than 20 volunteers gathered for the Easingwold Tourist Information Centre (ETIC) annual meeting and social get-together at the Galtres Centre.
Once again, 2024 had demonstrated the continuing success for the Centre in terms of assisting increasing numbers of visitors to the town every year.
The ETIC secretary, Mark Parry, reported that annual footfall had risen steadily from 3,167 in 2021 to 3,516 last year. By the time the Centre closes for the winter in October, the figure will show a further increase once again for this year.
“This is a very real achievement,” said Parry, “especially considering the poor weather conditions we have encountered this year.”
The annual meeting was chaired by Kate Buckby who said that the uptick in visitors “shows just how important the tourist office is to the commercial well-being of the town.”
The success is entirely down to the fantastic work by our dedicated team of volunteers who run the office daily for over six months throughout the Spring and Summer every year. The ETIC cannot thank them enough for their hard work. The centre also welcomed a further seven new volunteers to the team this season.
