Easingwold 1st XI (10) 149-3 (R Taylor 32, J Wright 55*) beat Sheriff Hutton Bridge (0) 146 all out (T Quinn 5-35) by 7 wickets.
Going into the final weekend of the season, the equation for Easingwold was simple, claim 4 points from the match, and the title was secured, but any slip up would open the door for both Whitkirk and Carlton Towers in second and third place, to take the crown.
For Easingwold Cricket Club members, it was just the short trip to Sheriff Hutton Bridge. Despite it being a scorching hot day, the wicket looked like it would assist the seam bowlers. As a result upon winning the toss, Tom Wilson decided to bowl first.
Both of Easingwold’s opening bowlers were giving nothing away, and the inconsistent bounce in the wicket was making run scoring particularly difficult, so it was little surprise when the first wicket fell in the 6th over to leave the score at 16-1.
