The Easingwold Advertiser & Weekly News is a family-owned paper for Easingwold and the surrounding area
Last Thursday the sad news that the Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II had passed was released at 6.30pm (BST).
A historic moment, for it is over seventy years since the passing of King George VI.
Now we have a new King to be known as King Charles III who will be probably crowned next summer at the earliest, but for now we will have a state funeral (not seen since the funeral of Winston Churchill) next Monday, with all the pomp and ceremony the world has come to expect.
Although Easingwold & Thirsk have not had the pleasure of Her Majesty the Queen or the Duke of Edinburgh visit in an official capacity they have both travelled in and out of the area over the past decades since the Queen ascended the throne in 1952.
RAF Linton on Ouse has on several occasions over the years, seen numerous members of the Royal Family when travelling to official trips throughout the Yorkshire region.
