The Easingwold Advertiser & Weekly News is a family-owned paper for Easingwold and the surrounding area
An audience braved the weather on Saturday to be entertained by local writers and poets in the library.
The show was opened by David Morris, who is a young 89! His two stories about growing up over the border in that place we call Lancashire had us smiling into our wine glasses.
Rachel Lister-Jones then enticed us with some well observed nature poems reminding us of the beautiful natural area in which we live.
The three story tellers from the Phoenix writing group, Laura Varney, Cal Stothard and Suzanne Stone told us stories that were so clever, funny and appropriate.
Last up of the ‘locals was Chas Hills, who took us on an underground train trip, so vivid and a poem about the characters you meet in a pub.
After a short break, Rowan MacCabe took to the stage. Rowan is a poet from South Shields and his hour show took us through his latest project ‘Door to Door poetry’.
His show was funny, warm and totally engaging.
He found a clever way of explaining England through a range of everyday folk.
He took us to the most divided town in Britain (Boston), the most deprived (Jaywick Sands) and some very wealthy streets in London.
He is welcome back to the library at any time.
