Easingwold Town Band Autumn Concert ...

Tuning up and Tuning in on Saturday last saw Easingwold Town Band perform their Autumn Concert at the Galtres Centre. This was a night to remember.

The audience nearly filled the auditorium despite local firework alternatives and the Band easily drowned out any whizzes and bangs. Much appreciation for supporting your local Band.

Kyle Sherwin; a Band member himself and tutor of the Development Band and Beginners Group started the evening.

His new musicians played 4 pieces including ‘Grim Grinning Ghosts’, Abba Classics and finishing with ‘The Rose’ that flowed beautifully around the hall. He has run these groups for 9 years!

Peter Woodrow then conducted the Band through 4 pieces from ‘Breezin Down Broadway, The Final Countdown’, the John Miles Classic – ‘Music’ and the beautifully played Salvation Army cornet solo ‘Share My Yoke’.

Peter has been conducting ETB since June 2024. He studied music and performance at Huddersfield University before teaching in several local schools, and was subsequently voted Newly Qualified Teacher of the Year.

Quite an accolade! At Malton School he started jazz groups, a choir, a band, an orchestra and his own tuition group.

Currently his ‘Woodrow Music Tuition Company’ concentrates on teaching the piano and brass instruments.
