EASINGWOLD METHODIST CHURCH 50TH ANNIVERSARY ...

Saturday 31st May, 2025

50 years ago, Easingwold’s Methodist Church was created. In celebration of such a big anniversary, the community hosted a wonderful event.

On Saturday morning, May 17th, the Easingwold Town Band provided excellent music to encourage people to stop and enjoy a free coffee and a piece of cake at one of the outdoor tables.

The Church was open all day for people to come in and admire the windows that had been specially decorated by members of the community. The chapel is used week by week or month by month for activities like the u3a, Guides and Brownies, Little Fishes, Easingwold Singers, the Friday morning Men's Group coffee mornings, and the ladies’ crafting group. Visitors reminisced on their memories of the church with the photographs on display from previous events. Flowers adorned the sanctuary and the vestibule.

The floral display remained over the entire weekend, gathering admiration during the Sunday morning service on May 18th. The service was even more notable as there were three ministers leading worship. The Methodist church community was led by the Reverend Elizabeth Cushion, who ministered there from 2012 to 2022, accompanied by her predecessor, Revered Ruth Duck, who ministered in Easingwold from 2005 to 2012. The Deacon, Reverend Chris Peel, did a reading of Psalms.
