On Sunday, 13 April, 2025, the Easingwold Market Place played host for the second time to the North Yorkshire Classic Car Tour organised by the York Motor Club.
60 cars assembled in the main car park in Easingwold Market Place from 9am, ready for a 10.30 start. There were vehicles of many marques from the 60s to the 90s, including MG, Triumph, Ford, Jaguar, Austin Healy and Mini. The real stand-outs of the day, though, were an original Ford GT40 and a Lotus.
There were also some more modern classics including a Volvo 940, Ford Puma, and a couple of Mazda MX5s at the newer end of the era.
The procession was waved off by a very enthusiastic crowd of spectators from the Market Place. Each succeeding car departed at a 1 minute interval, following the route described by Tulip diagrams with documented distances between them.
The route headed up through Crayke and Brandsby, past Dalby Church up to Hovingham where the route followed to the back of the bakery and through the water splash. A secret check point was placed to make sure the correct route was being followed.
The group tracked every pub they passed (13) and every ford they went through (8), so navigators were kept busy.
From Hovingham, the procession then drove towards Kirkbymoorside, but took a route bypassing the town. Eventually, they headed down Rosedale Chimney Bank and then over Danby Moor to Chop Gate to finally lunch at The Blacksmiths Arms at Swainby. Photo credit 60PMH.
