Easingwold Coronation Celebration – A Day to Remember...

Saturday 13th May, 2023

On Sunday 7th May, Easingwold and surrounding areas gathered in Easingwold market place to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

The event was organized by Wold Class, Easingwold’s Business Forum, along with local organisations, who thought it would be a great idea to put on a family fun day for all to enjoy in support of the Big Lunch.

Out of all 3 days of the bank holiday weekend, we were fortunate enough to have the best of them all. The afternoon was glorious with beaming sun and a pleasant temperature which certainly helped enhance the enjoyment of the event.

The event started with an opening speech by Peter Nottage, Easingwold Town Mayor, who wished all members of the public a fantastic day and to enjoy themselves throughout the various activities taking place during the day.

After Peter’s opening speech, Gary Stewart and his band got Easingwold into the celebratory spirit playing covers of well-known songs whilst families enjoyed the activities on offer throughout the Market Place.

Some activities available to enjoy on the day included: two bouncy castles, mini golf, tenpin bowling, giant Jenga and Connect 4, face painting, splat a rat, stocks (with the local vicar, mayor and ex-chief constable taking the brunt of the cold water and sponges) and crown colouring.

People had the opportunity to take photos with a cut out of King Charles too. It had a handcrafted crown and cloak which was designed and made by Julie from The Galtres Centre in Easingwold.
