MP meets local farmers ...

Appreciation to the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) North for hosting the first of hopefully many regular meetings with local farmers.

Members met Sir Alec Shelbrooke MP for Wetherby and Easingwold on a farm in Tollerton on March 7th for a lengthy discussion on what's impacting their farm businesses, such as farming taxation.

Topics discussed included inheritance tax (IHT), planning, flooding, animal disease and rural crime. Importantly, the group addressed the need for investment and future planning to help show confidence in the industry going forward.
