The Easingwold Advertiser & Weekly News is a family-owned paper for Easingwold and the surrounding area

Easingwold Galtres Centre was packed with singers and supporters on Friday night, enjoying a celebration of all things singing – ‘The Singers of Songs’.

Easingwold Community Singers is an inclusive mixed community choir based in Easingwold, who meet on Wednesday evenings to sing a huge range of songs in 3 part harmony.

The group has grown in strength and depth since the post-Covid return to real life singing, reaching over 50 members for the first time recently.

Only a few weeks ago, ECS put on a fantastic performance at the York Community Choir Festival at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre.

The festival is non-competitive, and a chance for choirs to watch each other’s performances and celebrate the huge range of choirs on offer in the York area.

It’s always great to get encouraging feedback though, and ECS were praised by organizers and audience members for their choice of uplifting songs, their harmonies, and the way they clearly expressed the lyrics and messages of each song.

Helmsley Arts Centre Singers is another friendly group with a similar ethos, who meet at Helmsley on Mondays, with some shared repertoire, so it seemed appropriate to bring the two groups together to perform.
