Local Mum hiking Kilimanjaro...

Saturday 22nd June, 2024

Local Mum, Claire Smith from Yearsley, is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro this month to raise money for SUDC UK (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood). Her climb is dedicated to her and her husband’s son, Harry, died suddenly in his sleep in April 2018, at only 21 months old.

SUDC refers to the unexpected death of a child aged between 1 - 18 years that remains unexplained.

Around 40 children are affected every year in the UK, comparable to one to two seemingly healthy children dying every fortnight. Often in these instances, the child goes to sleep and never wakes up.

SUDC UK is a registered charity dedicated to awareness, research and family support. To donate, visit Claire Smith’s Just Giving page.
