Last season was one of continued progress for the developing Easingwold under 11s junior football team.
A new series of league formats saw the team pit themselves against several different opponents, a number of notable performances, the introduction of loads of new players, and a continuation of stellar playing that was a credit to the club, the coaches, and the players themselves.
Next season will see the transition to youth football with a proper league format, still at 9v9. This will allow parents, coaches and players alike to see how far the team has come.
Easingwold’s junior football team now has a core of experienced players and a strong group of developing players. Their continued efforts will push the development of the squad as a whole and prepare for playing on the full-sized pitch the season after next.
At the team awards ceremony, player achievements from the season were celebrated with a few words about how each and every player contributes to the team and their progress.
The coaches’ player of the year was Danny Broadhurst who exemplifies everything the coaches want to see: strong running, bringing others into the game, and a strong positive attitude which has seen him turn games to the team’s advantage several times.
The supporters saw Mason Raper as their player of the year. Mason is a long-standing player for the team and continues to improve. He has become the team’s go-to striker, being strong in the last third of the pitch, scoring lots of goals, and always playing with a smile on his face.
