D-Day Remembered in Easingwold...

On Saturday 8th June, the sacrifice of Allied troops and the efforts of the free world were remembered on the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy.

Organized by the Easingwold Branch of the Royal British Legion members John Walker, John Cleaver and the Vicar of Easingwold, Rev Margaret Young, there was a short service of remembrance and laying of wreaths at the War Memorial in Easingwold Market Place.

Besides a sizeable gathering of local people, in attendance were Peter Nottage (Mayor of Easingwold); David Kenworthy (Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire); and Jim Cartwright, John Sutherland, Andy Waller, Phil Birkinshaw, Ian Peel, Rachael Blueman, Peter Coomer and Isaac Levitt (Readers, wreath layers, standard bearer and musicians).
