Easingwold WI June Report...

Easingwold WI were pleased to welcome some new ladies to their monthly meeting last week.

Gina offered to be the group’s delegate for the Autumn Council Meeting in October. Samantha Giles of Emmerdale fame will be the afternoon speaker.

Names and menu choices were taken for their annual outing. This year the women will be going tonearest stockist in August.

The WI are hoping to start an informal gardening group too. They aim to swap ideas and information about gardening, and maybe occasionally have a featured speaker. There was lots of interest in this.

The group’s next walk, on the first Monday in July, will be around Hovingham, and on to Castle Howard Arboretum Cafe, for lunch.

Schedules and entry forms were given out for the Group Craft and Produce Show in September.

The speaker for the evening was Veronica Bird OBE. Her talk was entitled “Prison to Palace”. Veronica had had a very difficult upbringing. Born in Barnsley, into a family of nine children, her father was an abusive alcoholic, and her mother died young.
