A group of volunteers in Easingwold have raised more than £5,000 for Yorkshire Cancer Research with a series of fundraising events.
The charity’s Galtres Volunteer Group help raise funds for world-leading research to help prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer in Yorkshire, and beyond.
Wendy Stirke, Chair of the group, said: “We’re really pleased with the amount we’ve raised so far this year. People have been really generous and we are very grateful to everyone who has attended an event or donated to the charity.”
The volunteers hosted an afternoon tea to celebrate the coronation of King Charles in May. They welcomed 85 guests and raised more than £1,500.
Guests enjoyed a fashion show of clothes from Hearts Boutique of Easingwold and had the opportunity to learn more about the vital work funded by the charity.
Wendy continued: “We were all delighted with how the afternoon tea at the George Hotel went. Everyone had a lovely time and really got into the spirit of the King’s Coronation.
