Easingwold District Lions hold a Meet the Lions and Awards Evening ...

The Lions of Easingwold District Lions Club celebrated their president’s changeover meeting at the Alne Cricket Club on Wednesday 12th July.

They also used this event to distribute funds to 16 local groups. Grants were awarded to bodies ranging from Easingwold Football Association, Easingwold Town Band, Tollerton Allotments Society, four local Primary Schools also Galtres Rainbows, Brownies and Scouts. Each were awarded Lions grants towards their own community projects.

The evening was attended by 50 people including representatives of the groups and other guests from Minster Lions Club. Even the Lions Vice District Governor, who was also a member of Garforth Lions Club, joined the event.

Lion President John Sutherland welcomed everyone to the evening and spoke about the activities of the Easingwold District Lions Club.

John explained that while most people would recognise the Lions as the people who bring Santa at Christmas, he illustrated to those present that thy do much more than this. He described the work of Lions around the world in relation to our projects supporting vision, youth, environment and disaster response.
