Big celebrations were in order to mark the Easingwold and District Flower Club’s 39th birthday.
Once the various preparations were completed by two or three Committee Members to set the scene for the celebrations and members had settled around small tables, Margaret Jackson told everyone that she had taken over the Treasurer's Role and Anne Hopwood has reverted to being Chairman - again!
The title of Margaret and Robin Jackson's talk was "Nature's Surprises" - who better to provide the group with an insight into nature? They are both observant country people through and through and they brought many photographs and specimens to illustrate their texts.
Margaret had everyone's attention from the outset, challenging members to recall the flowers they remembered seeing as children. Daisies, violets, buttercups, bluebells, cowslips and the more rare coltsfoot - the list went on and on!
She then produced a large branch of 'Osmundi Regalis' which many of the group didn't recognise. An example of a tree peony and one of a mallow were more familiar.
