For two days last week, at Easingwold Parish Church, the WOOFYT machine has been delighting children. Youngsters from Kirk Hammerton, Huby, Alne, Husthwaite, and Easingwold Primary Schools got to grips with the musical instrument with a difference.
It took up to sixteen of them at once to play the WOOFYT. They all had to cooperate with each other to get it to work at all!
The ‘WOOFYT’ (standing for Wooden One-octave Organ For Young Technologists) previously came to the Church in February 2018..
The instrument is the brainchild of Jeremy Sampson (a professional violinist and teacher) and our own Bill Cleghorn from Easingwold Town Band (a retired pump engineer).
Bill and Jeremy created a project for primary school children that combined technology and music, using air as the fluid medium.
