Alne WI Meeting Wednesday 11th January 2023...

Joan (President on the left of the above photo, Secretary Di on the right hand side) started the meeting by wishing everyone Happy New year, with the immediate, resounding response of Happy New year.

We then sang Jerusalem to mark the start of our WI new year.

Joan advised us The Salvation Army Homeless Shelter had been delighted with our cash donation. Joan on our behalf had also taken makeup bags which she had filled with donations of soap, shampoo, toothpaste, makeup etc , which was much appreciated.

Joan was then introduced to the Captain who laughingly asked “ what about the men? they like chocolate?”. Joan loves a challenge, overnight she raised £40 by asking men that evening in the Black Horse & around Tollerton for donations, Joan duly delivered enough chocolate bars for every man to have one placed beside their Salvation Army dinner. (It will be on all our radars next year). Well done & thank you Madam President.

Joan advised that Helen Ormerod was standing down as Treasurer after doing the most marvellous job for the last 9 years. Then followed a small amount of WI business by Joan & Di.

We were reminded to apply for any of the federation run courses that had been advertised (lots of members are applying for the AXE THROWING!........
