The weekend of Sunday 23 March saw the visitation of the Abbot of Ampleforth to Easingwold, a special day in the parish’s calendar.
Although within the Diocese of Middlesbrough, under Bishop Terence Patrick Drainey, Easingwold Parish has always been served by the monks of Ampleforth.
Fr Abbot therefore visits the parish every now and then, allowing him to keep an eye on the welfare of the parish, and also allowing parishioners the opportunity to meet and chat with him.
This particular visitation was especially important because on the Sunday Fr Abbot, with permission from the Bishop, confirmed Benjamin Lynam.
Benjamin is somewhat of a Parish mascot because his mother, the Parish Administrator, used to bring him to work with her when he was a smally baby.
Parishioners have watched him grow into a fine young man, who now serves on the altar each week.
